DALINC Supports Local Libraries

The Dubuque Area Library Information Consortium (DALINC) has demonstrated its dedication to community engagement and education through its active support of two key local initiatives: the Dubuque Area History Expo and the Dubuque County Reads Program.

In 2024, DALINC provided both monetary and volunteer support to these programs, reinforcing its mission to foster collaboration among libraries and promote lifelong learning in the Tri-State area.

Dubuque Area History Expo: This inaugural event brought together cultural and historical organizations from across the region to celebrate and share Dubuque’s rich heritage. DALINC’s involvement helped ensure the success of the expo, which featured exhibits, presentations, and community engagement opportunities at Steeple Square. The event highlighted the importance of preserving local history and connecting residents with their cultural roots. To learn more visit: https://www.rivermuseum.org/expo.

Dubuque County Reads Program: Now in its third year, this countywide reading initiative encourages residents to read and discuss a common book, fostering community dialogue and literacy. In 2024, the program focused on mental health awareness, with participation from nine local libraries and the Dubuque County Disabilities Council. DALINC’s support helped expand the program’s reach and impact, promoting empathy, understanding, and shared learning across the county. Through these efforts, DALINC continues to play a vital role in enriching the cultural and intellectual life of the Dubuque area. To learn more visit: https://libguides.dbq.edu/dubuquecountyreads
